A Year in Review: Celebrating Growth and Achievements
As the festive season approaches, we at Opex extend our warmest holiday greetings to all of our clients, colleagues, and supporters. 2023 has been a year of growth and achievements for Opex, and we are excited to share these milestones with you.
Growth and Expansion
This year has been one of significant growth for Opex, with our team growing by 3 new employees. Their unique expertise and vibrant energy have been instrumental in our ongoing success.
We have expanded our reach by updating our remote working and opening a new northern office in Leeds. These changes allow us to offer flexibility to attract the highest caliber staff, wherever they are in the country.
Upgrading Our Home in Market Harborough
In response to our growing team and needs, we have relocated to a bigger, more equipped office in Market Harborough.
The new space allows us to bring together remote and office-based staff for workshops, training days and review meetings to get the best of both worlds for our clients.
Launching The Facilities Management Forum
In our continuous effort to contribute to the facilities management community, we launched The Facilities Management Forum in September. This platform allows us to share knowledge and insights with industry colleagues to foster a collaborative environment in order to advance the FM industry as a whole.

This year marked a leap in our internal communication strategies with the launch of our bespoke intranet platform. This innovation has transformed the way we communicate and collaborate, fostering seamless connections and enhancing workflow efficiency across the board. Opex are currently deploying several cutting–edge tools, all developed by our in-house team, which will be utilised on projects to enhance our client’s experience and outcomes.
Sharing Knowledge with Toolbox Talks
A key internal initiative this year has been the introduction of “Opex Toolbox Talks“. These interactive sessions use the classic Health and Safety training format of a short presentation on a single topic, and have expanded this format to encompass training on all aspects of our work. They have become crucial in disseminating knowledge, refining our opinion of industry good practice, and ensuring our team stays up to date with the latest trends and developments in facilities management and the broader industries. The initiative also plays a part in the development of our internal team, giving everyone a chance to practise public speaking and presenting, while sharing knowledge of an area which they specialise in.
Commitment to Excellence: ISO 9001
A significant milestone for Opex was achieving the ISO 9001 standard for another year. Attaining this standard within the year highlights our commitment to quality, excellence, and continuous improvement in all aspects of our consultancy services. We worked hard to build on past successes, further improving our process and procedures to ensure high–quality standards are embedded in all our projects.
Ben’s MBA Achievement
We are also thrilled to celebrate a personal milestone for one of our directors, Ben. After two years of dedication, Ben has been awarded a distinction in his MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School, ranking 3rd in his class. His hard work, underpinned by the support of our co-director Steve Mitchell and the entire Opex team, exemplifies our ethos of continuous personal and professional development.
